Compare the 5 pillars to practices in your own religion. How is this practice similar to your practice? How is it different?

The five pillars are different then what we believe, but in a way have the same things that we as christians try to acheive. We try to do all of what the five pillars stand for, but we dont believe the story behind it.

The salat is the second pilliar this pillar is similar to my religion because we pray about three times a day to God. It is differnt by we do not have to stop what we are doing to pray and we also do not have to pray five times a day. This is also differnt because we do not go on the floor to pray.

I think that Shahada is very similar to Christianity in the sense that every time that we have a Mass, we are professing our faith. The difference is that we do it once, maybe twice a day, and Muslims do it five times a day. Also, we are required to go on Sunday to Mass(a worship service.

In some ways the 5 Pillars are similar to my religion but in some ways they are not. The one that I think is the most like my religion is Zakat. This is almsgiving or welfare contribution. In the church we are asked to donate money to help those who are less fortunate than us. in Zakat it is very much the same, but it is a requirement. The people must give 2 1/2 percent of their wealth to the poor. In ways this is like my religion but in other ways it has its differences.

It's similar because during Lent, we fast just like they do during the Fourth Pillar. It's different because we don't travel to Mecca and do all the events that they do when they are there.

There are many differences between the Islam religion.

One of the Five pillars that seem slightly like some of the things we do in Christianity would be the sawm : Fasting and charity. This could be compared with the Christian holiday of Lent in which we fast and give charity also.

The five pillars are the unique ways that Muslims live to show their dedication to Allah, or God. I think that the first pillar, Shahada, is similar to the first commandment in my religion. They both say that there is only one God and not to worship anyone or anything else. They are different because in Islam, Shahada also says that Muhammad is Allah's messenger. In my religion, we do not believe that Muhammud was God's messenger.

There are both some similarities and some differences. Some similarities in the third pillar most catholics choose if they are going to give to the poor and how much they are going to give. Muslims are required to give a set amoun of money.

Sawn, the fourth pillar, is fasting during the month of Ramadan. this is rather similar to Lent, in Christianity. during this month, people fast, but Chritians do not fast as much.

Sawm: we do this every year durring lent. And so do they but they fast everyday! You can have breakfast before the sun risese but no lunch and you can eat dinner after the sun sets. I think that would be very hard. we only have to do it on Friday but we get to eat but no meat and small meals. And we have to be 18 to do it.

I think that Sawm is very similar because Muslims fast and so do cristians. But whats different is that they fast everyday of the month. But we only fast on Fridays during the lent season. Like ours they only start fasting when they get oldder. This is why i think the pillar Sawn is the same as are fasting in some was.

Us, as Christians, can do many things that are similar and different from what we practice. For instance, the third pillar, Zakat, which says that Islams must give contribution or welfare. We also do that, we give donations and work at soup kitchens and so on. A way Christianity is different than Islam, is they have to pray at least five times a day, we do pray, but we choose to whenever we want to. ANd we only pray one to three times. Every religion has different ways to worship God, that's what make each one unique. =]

One of the similarities to our religion is the fifth pillar the Sawn. It is almost like fasting on good friday in the Catholic religion.

Muslims are very devoted to there beliefs. They devote alot of there time to god. At least once in there lifes they have to make a retreat to Mecca if they can. They have to give to the poor and that is something we do as christians

The 5 Pillars are the base of the Islam religion and the Ten Commandments are the base of Christianity. Some of the rules are similar but there are ten commandments and five pillars. Both religions have a time of fasting and reflection. Christians fasting time is called Lent and Islams fasting time is called Ramadan.

The third pillar of Islam, zakah, is about giving alms to the poor. It is similar to my religion because we are asked to give alms to the poor also. I think this is a great way to show that we care about people that are less fortunate than we are. It is different because we are not expected to give alms but it is greatly appreciated. In Islam, following the five pillars are some of the ways to live a good life on earth.

le; I agree with you on the third pillar. Give to the poor because they give to the poor and so do we. We give to the poor in the church and at charities. They give it all the time and when babies are born. The only thing different is that we aren't expected to give to the poor, we do it out of the kindness of are heart. They have to give to the poor they are expected too. Thats why we are different then them.

I agree with MAG, i can see how important this pillar is to them. Praying is very time consuming and then praying 5 times, thats a lot. That looked very hard but I think I would be able to do it. I see all these little kids doing it so i think i would be able to do it.

I agree with BW with how she said about the Zakat. Because we do donate money to the church.

I agree with N.L.E:
Lent is like the fourth pillar because we fast just like they do. I think that our religions have the same ideas on what we do, we just have different beliefs.

The pillars of the pilgrimige to Mecca could be life changing for many. You get to practice the teachings that the prophets first started.

The five pillars and the Ten Commandments are two very different things but they are both the guidelines that anyone that believes in one of the religions should follow. They have different commands and there are only five pillars and Ten Commandments.

I think it is interesting on how different the four groups are in the way the dedicate their life towards their beliefs. Some groups aren't very strict and others almost cut themselves off from the outside world.

I agree with MAG because in my religion we pray around 3 times a day but we do not have to stop what we are doing to do it.
