Why is religion a "hot topic"?
Why are people so passionate about religion? What role does it play in our lives? What can we do to be sure we don't offend people when we are talking about their religion and their beliefs?

Within each of us there is a longing for something or someone "bigger" than ourselves. Religion is one of the ways to fill this longing, and therefore becomes important, something we feel a need to defend. Sometimes, rather than acknowldging that we are created in the image of GOD, our concept of God becomes an image of ourselves. Then we are talking about ourselves, not our majestic Creator. "God" becomes small and petty, and very vulnerable.
I think that religion is a "hot topic" because people care about Jesus, or Budha, or any other god that that religion believes in. You can make sure not to offend someone when they talk about their religion if you comment on it, or just learn more about it... it can be a neat thing if you try. The world is a questionable ecomomy.
Religion is a "hot topic" because many people have many beliefs. There are many people with the same beliefs and many with different. Some people may argue what it true but is really just about what you believe. You may have strong beliefs in your religion and when people tell you that it is wrong it might offend you in some way. It is just about what you believe and who you are.
I think that religion is a hot topic because its the only thing that seperates people from peolple. Because if we didnt have so many religions then there would not be any wars. Religion is the only thing that humans have to fight about. I bet that every war or fight there was religion was part of it.This is why i think religion is a hot topic.
People are passionate because of religion because we all want to live eternal life with God and Jesus. We want to follow Jesus' footsteps in life and many other things. We can not offend people by not really mentioning things that dont need to be mentioned. We could keep our thoughts to ourselfs, but if we are talking about it, we could say that we know what there religion is, and we aren't trying to offend them in any way.
Religion is a big deal in every ones life. Its something most of us believe and study most of our lives. There for we talk about what is happening with us spiritually. So Religion is a "hot Topic" :]
Religion is a hot topic because it explains how everything came about. For example how did the first humans get here. How does the sunset and the moon rise. These questions can be answered by religion.
People are passionate about religion because God put a hole in our heart for Himself, so we all want to believe in Him. Many things such as when we go to church and if we pray to someone are roles it plays in our lives. When we are talking about someone else's religion, we can ask about what they believe and see if you have the right idea or not. Religion is a "hot topic" because everyone wants to believe in something and many religions are different.
Religion is such a "hot topic" because many people think that what they think is always right and when other pople express there opinions they can't handle it. Many people don't want to take the time to learn about others and let them explain what there Religion is like. We all have very different opinions and we need to take the time and let others explain instead of just judging them
WHy is Religion is a "Hot topic??? I think that religion is a hot topic because there is people all over the world who have different religions and if you have a friend that is just say morman you cant go to a movie on Sunday. Religion is one of the most discussed thing if you have a problem with differnt religions. But it is acyually kinda kool if you have a friend that has a different religion because you can go to there church and you can see how it is differnt than yours.
I think that religion is a "hot topic" because people all want to know about the believes that people have and what they do. We think about how different beliefes are and what make them different to ours.
People are very defiant of other's religions. This is partly because they have been raised to believe in these and will view anyone who says something that does not agree with their religion as a liar. This can even start feuds.
Religion is a very hot topic because, it fun to learn about what other people belive in. I think its also a great topic because, it teaches you about how people live. All people may not want to learn about World Religions but I know I do
I agree with jg that a lot of times people are more interested in being right than in learning and understanding what someone else thinks. I hope this class will be more about listening and learning and trying to understand than it is about who is right and who is not. Even though we believe our own religion is the "right" one, we can still respect the beliefs and customs of people who are different from ourselves.
Religion is a really hot topis because people base their life on thier religion, or not having one. So when someone says its wrong or that theirs is better people tend to take it offensive, I would. So i basically agree with almost everyone. [:
I think it is a hot topic because of the fact that we all beleive in different things and are very aversive toward believing in something different, thus believing that any other belief is diverse and wrong.
to anonymous: I think that is very true that there is something much bigger than us. I think that people have thought about that scence God created us. They woundered things like why do we live this life? That is why there are so many different religions and why it is such a "hot topic"
to jfg: I believe that you are right in almost all of your views. People have unprecedented hatred for others and will treat others with disdain or even violence for being in their views, a pagan.
The person in this blog that I agree with is j.f.g. We all need to be able to sit down and understand what other people believe. I agree that we need to not judge people and hear them out, because we don't want people to judge us.
dear h.shay, I agree with you. Alot of people practice religions around the world. Whether it's Hinduism, Christianity, Mourmanism, etc. they believe that God is up there, maybe they believe different thought, or have different languages, or have different books, but without Religion there would be more false gods. So therefore religion is a "hot topic."
I think religion is a "hot topic" globally because most countries are divided by religion and those seeking control and power within a government will sometimes use religion as a motivator for people to fight. In the U.S. people discuss religion when it comes to politics also. We look differently at people in our government who are of different faiths when that area of their lives becomes public. I personally do want a president who believes in God and I want a country that is "one nation under God".
bw i think your right. It does affend people when you tell them their wrong. or that GOd doesn;t love you. but you just have to say "I'll pray for you" and walk away.
religion is something that bring us all together. We all belong to or believe in something. People throught the world have different religions or the same. this is how we get to meet new people. :]
Religion is a hot topic because it gives your life a purpose and it tells you what is going to happen after you die. If we didn't believe that we are going to go somewhere when we die and we must have a good life to get there the world could be more chaotic than it is now.
The purpose of these pages is to connect members of the community to teachers at Holy Family Catholic School. Working together we can enhance the educational opportunities of our students.

I agree with bw! many people will have different belilefs and thats how all of us are! we are all very different but thats what God wanted!

Religion is a hot topic because it gives your life a purpose and it tells you what is going to happen after you die. If we didn't believe that we are going to go somewhere when we die and we must have a good life to get there the world could be more chaotic than it is now.
Religion is for the most part a person's life. How they came to be, who they are, and where they spiritualy belong.
I agree with KD because it is because of how much people care about there religion, and how much they will stand up for what they believe in.
