Why study world religions?
Is it important for middle school students to learn about religions besides their own? Why?

of course it is important because you dont want anti religiosism going on. If you think about it, getting deeper and deeper into other religions it can turn out to be bery neat and fun! i am so excited to learn and be educated about different religions around the world =]
It is very important to learn another religion because then you can understand what is happening in the world with other religions. it is also very important to learn another religion because if you want to travel then you should know whats right to do there and whats not so that you dont get in trouble.
I think that studying world religions is important for middle school students because you are able to learn about the religion and understand what they believe. Some students may judge others by the religion that they believe in. It is important to understand what the religion believes in before you judge it.
I believe that it is important for people to learn about religions other than their own. This information will allow you to understand there actions, words, and body language, and why their religions are such a big part of their lives. it will also ensure that you do not offend them. While your own religion may be importantto them, people should learn about other beliefs.
Why I think that i should study world religions is because i am a catholic and it would be cool to see how many other religions and the other people and who or what they worship and compare there religion to my religion!
Yes, I think is important to study other world religions. The reason I think this is because it is good to know other people's religions. You can learn what people do, and why they do certain actions. You can learn about certain holidays they celebrate and why the celebrate them. Religion is an important thing in life, so we can learn other things about different religions and know why people do the things they do in there religion. Not only that, but if you were to go to a different country and you knew what people did, what are Religious symbols and the holidays people celebrate. Thats why I think it is important to learn about different religions.
I think it is important for middle school students to learn about other religions because if we don't know about other religions, we could make judgements that are wrong. By learning about other religions, we can understand some of their practices and beliefs.
Yes I do think we need to learn because if you don't and you meet someone that practices that religion then you really don't a part of them. Religion is a very important thing in life because we follow rules in our religions that don't allow us to do something on some days. For example, like in my religion (catholism)during lent we are supposed to fast and not eat any meat, on Fridays. Some people are not allowed to do anything on Sundays because that is the day for the Lord.
I can't wait to learn about all the new religions! I think it will be interesting to learn different things about people. Also to see how different or the same they are to us. Its very importent to study world religions and their tradditions.
Yes, I think it is for many reasons. One of the reasons is that you could understand another person's actions and feelings better. For example if they do someting that you think is wierd then you could understand that it was something inportant to them. another thing is that you might not generalize people so much if you knew that they where not all the same.
I think its very important to study world religions because you need to know other peoples tradittions. Im really excited to learn about world religions.I think students and adaults should learn about religions. I cant wait!!!!!!! :)
Studying world religion has become an important factor in today’s business world. By learning more about a foreign business partners religion it many help you understand and get a along better with your foreign friends .
it is important studying other religions in order to understand people of different religions and how they act toward our religion or society (muslims)
Knowing other religions can help you understand more about others and their beliefs. If you know someone that is a completely different religion than you it would be easier to befriend them if you know about their religion.
I too think it is important to be educated on world religions - knowledge and understanding are what builds peace between people and nations. When you find out your differences - sometimes you also find similarities and common ground. What religions will you study and where will you be getting your information? Just curious. I think another extra credit type experience would be to attend the services of other denominations (if they are local) after you have learned about them. I was able to do that when I was growing up and it was very educational and eye opening.
The world truly is a global community. It is important to understand the underlying values that motivate people. Religion has a big impact on us, and on our values and our culture. It would be hard to understand friends from other parts of the world without knowing at least a little about their culture and beliefs.
To zt: I agree with you that it is very important to understand all of these things. However, you say that you wouldn't generalize about people. This is important, because as one person said- the world is a global community, and we should get along.
I think that m.g made a very good point about world religions. I think that if you go to another country with a strict religion it is important to know what they are about so you don't do something that may offend them. I think that knowing about other religions is just good for your knowledge so understanging them is very important. .

If you study world religions you will obviously have a better understanding of the world around you and you will be less likely to affend someone that is a different religion than you.

Naa.. Its not that important. everyone chooses a religion or chooses not to have one. Its about you... and what your about. :)
